NEW YORK, Aug 19 (Reuters) - The dollar weakened against major currencies on Wednesday after the U.S. Treasury Department announced it plans to double liquidity support buyback operations for longer-dated bonds.
The ‌euro rose 0.78% against the dollar to $1.16640, hitting its highest level in more than 2-1/2 months.
Sterling was ‌0.48% higher against the dollar at $1.3597, rising to its highest since May 11.
The announcement suggests an expansionary monetary policy and the availability of more dollars in the market, which is causing the U.S. currency to depreciate, said Juan Perez, director of trading at Monex USA.

NEW YORK/LONDON, Aug 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar rose against the **** anese yen on Thursday, helped by safe-haven positioning from investors awaiting details on a proposed deal to end the Iran conflict and ahead of the monthly ‌U.S. jobs report.

The dollar was last up 0.41% against the yen at 158.41, on track for its third straight session of gains after weakening to as low as 155.20 on Monday, its lowest level since early May.

NEW YORK, June 24 (Reuters) - Stocks fell on Wednesday, erasing early Wall Street gains and leaving European shares little changed, as valuation worries continued to weigh on sentiment, while the dollar climbed to a ‌one-year high.
On Wall Street, the benchmark S&P 500 and the Nasdaq ended lower while the Dow gained. Consumer discretionary, ‌industrials and utilities stocks drove gains. Energy stocks were the biggest losers as the continued flow of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz pushed prices toward four-month lows.
Technology stocks reversed early gains and continued their descent following a selloff on Tuesday. Sentiment has been fragile as investors priced in at least one rate hike from the Federal Reserve this year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.35%, the S&P 500 fell 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.43%.

NEW YORK/LONDON, June 8 (Reuters) - The dollar pulled back on Monday from its highest level in nearly two months, after Iran said its attacks on Israel had ended.
Tehran's comments lured investors ‌into other currencies that had been dented after strong U.S. jobs data on Friday prompted traders to ramp up ‌bets on a Federal Reserve rate rise this year.
Iran's military announced on Monday that its first wave of attacks on Israel since a ceasefire in April was now over, although it threatened to resume the strikes if Israel continued attacks on Lebanon.
The euro was a touch stronger on the day at $1.1533, but still hovered near its lowest level in around nine weeks, while the pound edged above three-week lows to $1.3390.
