A low scoring, back and forth affair took a turn in the top of the eighth inning during which the Rays broke a 3-3 tie with a five-run inning punctuated by a pair of blasts from Caminero and Mesa Jr. The Rays left Anaheim with a series loss, but were able to salvage the last of three games against the Halos, avoiding the sweep.
Across nine innings, the Rays used six different pitchers in what was a scheduled bullpen day. The staff did their job and kept this game close long enough for the offense to break out. Legumina opened ahead of Seymour, tossing 1.2 innings. He surrendered the first run of the game in the bottom of the second and struck out one.
Seymour followed and provided 3.1 innings of two run baseball. He walked and struck out three. Kelly, Kimbrel, Cleavinger, and Baker combined to toss the final four innings. They allowed no runs and punched out seven.
Prior the eighth the Rays managed to score three runs. In the third, the Chandler Simpson singled home Mesa Jr. and Aranda to give the rays an early 2-1 lead. The following inning, Williamson hit his first homer of the season and extended the Rays lead to 3-1.

The Cubs acquired left-hander Antoine Kelly in a trade with the Dodgers for cash. Kelly was **** igned to Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs claimed right-hander Eduarniel Núñez off waivers from the Orioles. They **** igned him to rookie ball Mesa, where I presume he’ll work in the pitch lab and not pitch. Núñez was in the Cubs system from 2017 to 2024.
The Iowa Cubs shattered the Louisville Bats (Reds), 10-2.
Iowa got four good innings out of starter Doug Nikhazy, who gave up two hits but no runs. Nikhazy walked two and struck out two.
Because Nikhazy didn’t go five innings, the win went to reliever Christian Roa. Roa pitched 1.1 innings of relief and surrendered no runs and just one hit. He did not walk anyone and struck out two.

Pirates Get Trolled By Own Social Media Team After Ugly Loss Vs. Dodgers originally appeared on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Add SportsNet Pittsburgh as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Pittsburgh Pirates continued their recent slump on Tuesday, getting routed 12-3 by the Los Angeles Dodgers at PNC Park.
It was the Pirates' fourth straight loss and fifth in their last six games. The 12 runs allowed were a season high for Pittsburgh, while the nine-run margin of defeat matched its largest of the year.
In other words, it was the Pirates' worst loss of the season, especially considering that Paul Skenes started and pitched well, delivering a quality start. However, Pittsburgh's bullpen promptly surrendered 10 runs in the seventh inning after he finished the sixth, immediately squandering his gem and turning a 2-2 battle into a blowout.

The Alabama Crimson Tide swept the St. John’s Red Storm 2-0 during the Tuscaloosa Super Regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium this weekend.
Alabama was red hot at the plate across both matchups against the Johnnies. The Tide outscored St. John’s 15-2 throughout both games, and Alabama has officially punched their ticket to the 2026 College World Series in Omaha as a result.
Here are three takeaways from Alabama baseball’s sweep over St. John’s in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
Fay has been one of the most reliable pitchers in Alabama’s rotation throughout the entire 2026 campaign. The Crimson Tide star surrendered just two hits over 7.1 innings of work, as Fay was almost flawless against the Johnnies on Saturday afternoon.
The flamethrower will play a critical role on the mound during the College World Series, as Fay will need to keep things rolling into Omaha next weekend.

The 2026 F1 season was supposed to usher in a massive new era of technical regulations, but right now, the paddock is entirely consumed by a massive geopolitical and logistical nightmare. With the race calendar suddenly shrinking and the future of several major Grand Prix weekends hanging in the balance, the grid is actively lobbying the FIA for an emergency rule change. According to an exclusive new report from GPblog, a majority of Formula 1 teams are actively pushing to temporarily relax the mandatory rookie free practice requirements for the 2026 campaign.
Under the heavily updated sporting regulations for this season, every single constructor on the grid is strictly mandated to surrender their highly coveted Free Practice 1 (FP1) sessions to a rookie driver four separate times over the course of the year. In practical terms, this means both regular race drivers within a team are required to hand over the keys to their multi-million dollar machinery twice per season.
The fundamental goal of the regulation was universally praised: force the notoriously closed-off F1 paddock to give emerging young talent vital seat time in current-spec cars during an official, high-pressure Grand Prix weekend. However, as the global situation continues to heavily impact the sport, the teams are arguing that fulfilling this specific four-session mandate is rapidly becoming an impossible logistical mountain to climb.
The sudden panic in the paddock all stems from the rapidly deteriorating racing calendar. Formula 1 has already been forced to indefinitely postpone the opening Grands Prix in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the escalating war and severe geopolitical instability in the Middle East. Because of these massive regional disruptions, it is highly questionable whether those two specific races will ever be rescheduled later in the season.
More concerning for the teams is the massive dark cloud now hanging over the tail end of the 2026 championship. The traditional season-ending races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi are currently deeply uncertain. Historically, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix serves as the ultimate rookie playground, with almost the entire grid opting to burn their mandatory FP1 rookie sessions at the Yas Marina Circuit, where the track data is less critical, and the risk of a high-speed crash is significantly lower.

Today marks the birthday of our former manager Jack Ross, a figure whose time on Wearside continues to divide opinion among supporters as to whether it was a successful tenure or not. While his reign ultimately ended in disappointment, Ross also played an important role in stabilising the club during one of the most turbulent periods in its history.
Appointed by new owner Stewart Donald in May 2018 following our relegation to League One, Ross arrived with the task of trying to rebuild a club that had suffered back-to-back drops from the Premier League to the third tier. Naturally, expectations were enormous, but the Scotsman quickly brought a sense of calm and stability to a dressing room and fanbase that had been rocked by years of decline and disappointment.
One of the biggest positives of Ross’s tenure was his ability to restore the team’s pride in their performances and, crucially, start winning games again. Sunderland lost just five league matches during the 2018-19 campaign and finished fifth with 88 points. The team reached the League One play-off final at Wembley, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Charlton Athletic in heartbreaking fashion. Ross also guided the Black Cats to the final of the EFL Trophy, although they were defeated on penalties by Portsmouth.
Ross deserves credit for creating a side that was difficult to beat and capable of grinding out results. Players such as Aiden McGeady thrived under his management, while the club regained a level of professionalism and organisation on the pitch that had been lacking in previous seasons.
However, there were significant criticisms too. Despite Sunderland’s decent points tally, many fans felt the team lacked attacking ambition. Too often, winning positions were surrendered and matches ended in frustrating draws, particularly 1-1 stalemates.

SAN ANTONIO — For such a young group in the most pressurized situation of their collective careers, the Spurs find themselves in a strange sense of calm, despite surrendering home-court advantage in the NBA Finals.
A decent portion of that emotional control stems from De’Aaron Fox — the veteran point guard who struggled in Game 1, finishing with just 7 points on 3-for-13 shooting and three turnovers, and who failed to convert a single outside shot. Given how heavily San Antonio relies on Fox’s presence — he played 38 minutes despite his lack of production — his ability to offer control and poise is extremely important, and his understanding of his role remains critical.
Fox’s overall usage is essentially the lowest of his career, a shade above his rookie season, but the 28-year-old has been a positive playmaking presence since last season’s trade to the Spurs.
“I mean, I've got to make shots,” Fox said on Thursday. “Obviously I'm not shooting the ball as much. But coming here, I knew that was the way it was going to be. As a player, you sacrifice for the betterment of the team. There are times where I need to take shots or times where I don't take as many shots, but at the end of the day, you need to make the shots that you take.”
Zooming out a bit, Fox’s overall shot quality in Game 1 was remarkably better than the previous 17 playoff games, which lines up with his and the team’s Monday morning quarterback **** sment. Still, in terms of his downhill gravity and how it relates to San Antonio’s overall floor **** ing, there needs to be improvement heading into a must-win Game 2.

The White Sox have lost back-to-back games to the Twins, falling 6-4 tonight. Davis Martin fought with his command all night, unable to make it through five innings. While the offense didn’t provide, the poor pitching performance certainly was a catalyst for a tough loss. The bullpen took control in the late innings, but loading the bases and leaving them stranded moments later also hurt the momentum this team carried into Minnesota.
There was not much action in the game until the third inning, just a pair of Twins singles that went nowhere. Connor Prielipp gave up a leadoff walk to Luisangel Acuña in the third, who stole second and third before reaching home on a throwing error, putting the first run of the game on the board. With one out, Chase Meidroth singled, and Randal Grichuk followed up with a double. Miguel Vargas would be the decision-maker, plating two runs with a single. Edgar Quero also singled, but two outs would quickly follow, including an unfortunate two-out bunt decision from Derek Hill.
Martin would also face a little trouble on the base paths in the bottom of the third. Tristan Gray singled and advanced on a questionable balk call. Alex Jackson singled, and Brooks Lee’s sac fly would send a run in. Martin was able to work through the rest of the inning, only giving up the one run despite some sloppy defense from his teammates.
Martin struggled again in the bottom of the fourth. Trevor Larnach doubled, and he gave up a walk to Austin Martin. Luke Keaschall doubled, giving the Twins another run with two on base and only one out. Gray gave the Twins the lead with an RBI single, sending in two runs before then getting to second base. Gray stole third and got home after a single from Jackson. Another base hit, this time from Byron Buxton, would get the bullpen stirring after Martin surrendered five hits in the inning. A double play would thankfully end any additional threat.
The Twins kept the White Sox in check for two straight innings, and Martin continued to wrestle with his command. Despite starting the fifth with a strikeout, he gave up back-to-back walks right after. Those free passes would haunt him when Keaschall singled, and Sam Antonacci couldn’t get the ball home in time. After the run, Martin stepped out for Sean Newcomb to take over and end the fifth. Alas, the Twins were up 6-3.

(Reuters) -Switzerland did not make a deal with the devil by agreeing a new tariff framework with the United States, Economy Minister Guy Parmelin said on Sunday, rejecting criticism ‌that it amounted to "surrender" in Donald Trump's trade war.
The non-binding framework trade ‌agreement, announced on Friday, promises a lower U.S. import tariff rate of 15% for Switzerland - down from 39% - in return for $200 billion in investments by Swiss companies in the U.S.
"We haven't sold our soul ‌to the devil," Parmelin said in an interview with the Tagesanzeiger newspaper.
