The New England Patriots have made a change to their offseason program schedule.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots moved their mandatory minicamp from June 15-17 to June 9-11, as head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed to media members on Tuesday.
The Patriots will hold their mandatory minicamp for veteran players, as stipulated in the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement. Physicals will be administered on June 8, before the team goes through on-field activities.
New England’s second practice of the minicamp will entail walkthroughs only. No live contact will be permitted throughout the three days of the mandatory camp.
The Patriots acquired superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on June 1, changing the complexion of their roster even further this spring. They will continue to get Brown and the team into shape once the mandatory minicamp takes place next week.

Thursday’s reports claim that Oumar Solet is getting close to securing a move to Serie A and Coppa Italia champions Inter this summer, but the Frenchman is expected to extend his contract with Udinese first. Here’s why.
Inter are hoping to add to their defensive unit this summer with Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian leaving at the end of their contracts, whilst Yann Bisseck could be sold amidst interest from Bayern Munich.
Several centre-backs have been linked with a potential move to San Siro this summer, including Sassuolo’s Tarik Muharemovic and Roma pair Gianluca Mancini and Evan Ndicka, but reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that a deal for Udinese’s Solet is edging ever closer.

Somebody take the Clutch Player of the Year award from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and give it to New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson. People should give him an award, too, for overcoming an injury scare.
The Knicks take Game 1 of their NBA Finals series with the San Antonio Spurs with the three-time All-Star living up to the billing. Brunson was the best player on the court on Wednesday night, especially during the fourth quarter as he hit clutch shots after clutch shots.
The Knicks star finished with a game high 30 points, erasing all the worries about his health status after he was forced to go to the locker room late in the first quarter when Harrison Barnes fell on to his knee.
The visiting team was down in the first quarter by eight points although the game was pretty close throughout. The Spurs had the lead most of the time but by the fourth quarter, Brunson stepped on another gear and it was a see-saw battle from there.
Brunson hit 13 points in the fourth quarter, including two field goals during the last two minutes. He hit a corner three to give his team the lead, 97-95, and the hit one in the face of a tough defense to extend their lead to 101-95. The Spurs failed to recover.

LAS VEGAS – Edmen Shahbazyan isn't going to let Saturday's UFC Fight Night 278 opportunity slip through his fingers.
Shahbazyan (26-7 MMA, 14-4 UFC) is on the advantageous side of a unexpected matchup against top-ranked middleweight contender Brendan Allen (16-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) at the META APEX (Paramount+). A victory would flip the trajectory of his career, and although he's rightfully the underdog, he vows not to mess it up.
"I wouldn't take back anything that happened in the past," Shahbazyan told MMA Junkie of his prior setbacks. "It's God's timing. Here we are. I'm a lot better fighter today. More mature, more established and Saturday night is going to be a good night. I promise.
"He's a good opponent. Tough fighter, durable fighter – but I'm ready for this moment. I'm ready to go Saturday night."
If Shahbazyan can win, and do so in style, he would vault into the upper echelon at 185 pounds. He's certain that's where he belongs, even if it might be a bit uncomfortable because his longtime Xtreme Couture teammate Sean Strickland currently holds the belt.

A cricketer who says she faced ***** ism from opponents when she first started playing in a men's league is working to help more women get into the game.
Georgia Inkley first tried cricket 17 years ago and became part of her local men's side in Leicestershire because there was no women's team.
Despite facing discriminatory comments from opposition players in her early seasons, the Countesthorpe Cricket Club player says she has become "obsessed with the sport".
The 24-year-old is now helping organise taster sessions for women and girls in a bid to get more into the amateur scene in Leicestershire.
Inkley told the BBC she started playing cricket at school after her school head teacher suggested she try a taster session.

On the official NASCAR Hauler Talk Podcast, Senior Director of Racing Communications Amanda Ellis detailed the decision from the Sanctioning Body to not penalize Austin Dillon for what Brad Keselowski and spotter TJ Majors felt was intentional retaliation on Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway.
The entire ordeal began on Lap 145 when Dillon was spun off a chain reaction of events. There was a bottleneck on pit entry and coming down the frontstretch, Keselowski shaded low and stalled Dillon, who spun off the nose of Keselowski.
Dillon blamed Keselowski in real time.
Then, 47 laps later, there was a stack-up on a restart and Dillon followed Keselowski down the apron. Dillon connected with Keselowski, and crashed him as a result. In real time, Majors told Keselowski that he felt it was intentional payback and Keselowski himself indicated the same conviction
“You know, I felt like we had just made the adjustments on the car we needed to be competitive … and it’s pretty clear he wrecked me intentionally after seeing that replay,” Keselowski said on the Prime Video broadcast. “So, turnabout is fair play.”

Kerry Carpenter is back, and the Detroit Tigers immediately put him where they need him most. Detroit activated Carpenter from the 10-day injured list on May 31, inserted him as the designated hitter batting fourth against the White Sox, and optioned Gage Workman to Triple-A Toledo in the corresponding move, as shown in the club’s May 31 roster update and a matching game-day report.
Detroit did not ease Carpenter back in. Batting him fourth on day one puts a left-handed power bat right back into the middle of a Detroit Tigers lineup that went 4-15 without him and posted a .602 OPS during a 6-21 May, according to the same May 31 update.
A.J. Hinch said Carpenter completed two rehab games and felt healthy before returning, per the pregame update. The Detroit Tigers answered that by dropping him straight into the cleanup spot instead of limiting his workload at the bottom of the order.
That deployment says plenty about how Detroit views Carpenter’s bat, especially against right-handed pitching. He was one of the few proven power threats on the roster before the injury, and the Detroit Tigers lineup looked thin without him.
Carpenter went on the 10-day injured list May 10 with a left shoulder sprain after crashing into the right-field wall at Kauffman Stadium on May 9, according to the injury report from that move. Initial testing showed no structural damage, but there was enough soreness and inflammation to shut him down.

Emerson Hancock, the breakout star of the vaunted Mariners rotation in 2026, turned in another strong start last night against the Mets, going six innings with seven strikeouts and giving up just two runs, both on solo homers. This, in and of itself, is not particularly surprising; Hancock, one day after his 27th birthday, has settled into a steady hand in the Mariners rotation, and this kind of line now feels like just another day at the office for Hancock.
What is surprising is how he got there: last year, Hancock’s four seam-sinker combo accounted for over two-thirds of his pitches, with his changeup accounting for the bulk of the rest and a slider/sweeper rounding it out. He was a classic ***** ator, working within what Mario Delgado Genzor has termed the “pronator’s triangle.” Here’s Hancock’s pitch mix in 2025, with his particular ***** ator’s triangle skillfully drawn in for you:
A quick review, if you don’t know: Pitchers with a supination bias, or supinators, get on the outside of the ball as they release it (you can remember this by imagining scooping up a big spoonful of delicious soup), leading to glove-side movement. These kinds of pitchers excel at pitches that rely on horizontal movement like sweepers, cutters, and curveballs. Pitchers with ***** ation bias, on the other hand, stay to the inside of the ball, ending palm-out. ***** ators are able to get significant arm-side run. While ***** ators tend to throw a very spin efficient fastball, leading to more ride up in the zone, that comes at a cost of horizontal movement, limiting their options to enhance their ***** nals with things like sweepers or cutters.
But in 2026, Hancock changed up his pitch mix, somehow magically developing all those pitches that are supposed to be off-limits to ***** ators, as Michael Rosen examined in his article on FanGraphs about how Hancock dropped his arm angle and spin efficiency and in doing so escaped “low slot ***** ator jail”. All of a sudden we don’t have a triangle so much as we have…Massachussetts.
The cutter, while still classified as a hard pitch like the fourseam or sinker, has a totally different movement profile – while the sinker and four-seamer move armside, the cutter moves gloveside, although Hancock will still throw it to both sides of the plate, making things even less predictable for hitters.
