Done deal.
The third sale of the Seattle Seahawks in the 50-year history of the franchise as a member of the NFL is official. The team announced the NFL-record $9.61 billion sale from the Estate of Paul G. Allen to the Khosla family that league owners approved last week in a unanimous vote officially closed Thursday.
Vinod Khosla, his wife Neeru Khosla and son Neal Khosla are now the controlling owners of the Super Bowl champions.
This the first time a defending Super Bowl champion has been sold within months of winning it all.
The Khoslas become the Seahawks' first owners other than the late Paul Allen or his sister Jody, the chair of his estate, since 1997. That was the year Paul Allen bought the franchise from Ken Behring for $194 million.
