Reports are now indicating that the Boston Red Sox attempted to trade for Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds.
De La Cruz, one of the better young players in Major League Baseball, would have been an incredible addition. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, however, Cincinnati decided to go in a different direction.
While it's unfortunate Boston didn't end up with the star shortstop, it also gives us a good indication of some questions that might be coming in the near future. Both of those questions should be centered around Trevor Story and Franklin Arias.
Story, currently dealing with an injury, is expected to be the short-term shortstop for the Red Sox when he returns. Arias, however, is viewed as a long-term option at the position for the organization.
