Arsenal and Barcelona are the two main clubs competing to sign Julian Alvarez this summer, and both teams are determined to win the race for his signature.
Alvarez prefers a move to Barcelona, but their approach has frustrated Atletico Madrid. Several reports suggest that Atletico would rather sell him to a club outside Spain if the Argentine pushes to leave the club.
Atletico Madrid are doing everything possible to keep Alvarez for another season, and it remains unclear whether the forward would take drastic action to force through a move away from the club.
Since the end of last season, Barcelona have been working to add Alvarez to their squad and even saw an offer rejected. They have invested significant time in their pursuit, but their position could now change because they have identified another option.
According to Fussball Daten, Barcelona would move for Vangelis Pavlidis if they fail to sign Alvarez this summer. The report claims that the Catalan club are close to stepping away from the race for the Argentine because they will not wait indefinitely for him.
