Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: $TSLA) kept its Bitcoin treasury unchanged at 11,509 BTC in the second quarter, extending a holding pattern that has now lasted nearly four years.
The electric vehicle maker recorded a $112 million after-tax loss on its digital ******* et holdings as Bitcoin fell about 14% during the quarter. The cryptocurrency declined from roughly $83,000 at the end of March to around $58,000 by June 30 before recovering above $65,000 in July.
Tesla has not bought or sold any Bitcoin since 2022. The company entered the market with a $1.5 billion purchase in early 2021 and briefly accepted the cryptocurrency as payment for its vehicles. It later suspended the option over environmental concerns and sold about 75% of its position the following year.
