FIFA just suspended two members of U.S. men's soccer team staff. The suspension came after the U.S. Round of 32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The suspensions were placed on U.S. team manager Sam Zapatka, and Frank Pannell, vice president of security of the U.S. Soccer Federation. FIFA did not explain why were they sanctioned.
According to sources close to the team, the sanctions were placed because of not adhering to the match protocols, including people standing in areas that they were not allowed, ESPN reported.
The U.S. Soccer Federation said it was not related to Folarin Balogun's red card suspension.
However, Front Office Sports reported that the cause may have been that Balogun went back to the field to celebrate with his teammates after having gotten a red card in the second half of the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to the rules, once a player gets a red card, they cannot go back to the pitch.
