The New York Police Department is apparently unfamiliar with Tyler Kolek's work.
During the parade to celebrate the New York Knicks' NBA championship on June 18, police officers tried to corral Kolek, thinking that the 6-foot-2 guard was probably just a rowdy fan.
Sure, the former Marquette star didn't appear in the NBA Finals as the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games. But he played in 62 games this season, including a breakout performance in a nationally televised matchup on Christmas Day and also had another big game as the Knicks won the NBA Emirates Cup.
Plus, Kolek was a two-time All-American in college with the Golden Eagles. He's also became something of a fashion icon over the course of the playoffs.
"I swear I'm on the team bro," Kolek posted on social media while sharing video of the incident.
