Tennessee softball pitcher Kailey Plumlee announced her intentions to enter the transfer portal on June 3.
The freshman out of Gordonsville High School did not see the field with six pitchers on the roster during the Lady Vols' second straight run to the Women's College World Series semifinals. She was Tennessee's only left-handed pitcher on staff.
"I would like to thank the University of Tennessee for a year of growth and memories," Plumlee said in a post on X. "With that being said, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal as a left-handed pitcher with four years of eligibility remaining!"
Plumlee is the second Lady Vol to announce she'll enter the transfer portal when the window begins June 8. Sophomore outfielder Saviya Morgan also announced June 3 she'll enter the portal.
Plumlee's transfer is a similar situation to what happened last year. The Lady Vols brought in two highly-touted arms in their freshman class, and one broke into the rotation, the other did not.
