Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is in a much different part of his career than many would have expected him to be in just a few years ago. During certain parts of his time with the 49ers, Samuel was viewed as one of the better wide receivers in the NFL.
He was also used as a running back, showing he had the opportunity to impact the game in multiple ways on offense. While Samuel is still a decent player in some regards, he definitely isn't what he once was, and showed that with the Washington Commanders.
Now a free agent, despite him not being what he once was, there's still reason to believe that he can bring some value to a contending team, especially ones that don't have an elite wide receiver corps. That includes the Green Bay Packers, a team the former 49ers star was recently linked to.
“Samuel can be utilized in a number of roles lining up all over the field and offering value as a potential backfield option. This will bring out the best of LaFleur’s offensive creativity and give Love a much-needed weapon in the 2026 season,” Nick Halden wrote.
