A century after her birth, Marilyn Monroe is being seen in a new light — not as the troubled starlet of Hollywood lore, but as a woman quietly suffering from a debilitating and largely misunderstood disease.
End of the Cycle, a new documentary featuring Amy Schumer, Julianne Hough and others, makes the case that Monroe's long-misread public persona — her absences, her multiple miscarriages and her reputation for being "difficult" — were all likely symptoms of endometriosis, Page Six reported Wednesday, June 3.
"The way she's been portrayed all these years has not been accurate," co-director Sammy Jaye said at the screening at New York City's Whitby Hotel, per the report. "If anyone mentions Marilyn Monroe in a negative way, you can revert back to this and know that she was going through [the disease] at a time when she couldn't have said anything, and there wasn't social media."
According to the outlet, Jaye, who also lives with endometriosis, noted that Monday marked what would have been Monroe's 100th birthday, adding, "You look at what has and hasn't changed over the past 100 years with treatments and medicines … not much has changed."
According to the Endometriosis Collective, a global nonprofit research organization, more than 265 million women worldwide are affected by the condition, which causes tissue similar to the uterine lining to grow outside the uterus, resulting in intense, chronic pain. The disease has no cure and cannot be diagnosed without surgery. On average, women wait 7 to 14 years to receive a diagnosis, and more than 30 percent of those with endometriosis experience infertility.

Olivia Rodrigo has revealed she only dates guys recommended by her friends to avoid "crazy stalker serial killers".
The Drop Dead singer shared her thoughts on dating and heartbreak in a new interview for the summer issue of Dazed.
During the conversation, Rodrigo was asked for her opinion on the best way to meet a potential love interest and revealed she relies on pals to find her a suitable match.
"Through friends, for sure. Because then they can be like, 'I know this person, they're not a crazy stalker serial killer, trust me.' And you'll already have so much in common... that's definitely the best way," she explained.
Rodrigo went on to express her desire to someday meet a special person in a memorable way, rather than expecting friends to matchmake for her.
"I've never met someone in a real meet-cute way," she smiled. "I always picture sitting next to a cute guy on an airplane or something and being like, 'What book are you reading? Oh, my God, I'm reading that book too!' But unfortunately, that's never happened to me."

Joseph Duggar's sister is saddened by his arrest scandal.
Joy-Anna Duggar opened up about adjusting to the new normal after details of his arrest came to light. Through it all, she found that taking each day step by step, whilst leaning on her faith, has been her scheme for self-support.
Joseph Duggar was arrested in March for lewd and lascivious behavior after allegedly molesting a 9-year-old child in Florida in 2020. He is currently facing other charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment, all of which he pleaded not guilty.
Joy-Anna Duggar aired her feelings about her brother's arrest scandal, describing it as the hardest time she's ever gone through. She opened up during a recent episode of her sister, Jinger Duggar's, eponymous podcast, where she explained how she is getting through the difficult phase.
"I think we're all grieving in different ways, but I think it just feels so heavy," she said before adding, "I definitely think as time goes on, certain things have gotten lighter, but I've really been struggling." Continuing the conversation, Joy-Anna revealed that the good thing she got out of the whole ordeal is leaning on the Lord more.

Wrestling icon Mick Foley has spilled on why Donald Trump’s response to the killings of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, led him to distance himself from WWE due to its relationship with the president.
“Belittling the man who just died, somehow tying it into Reiner’s dislike of Donald Trump — for me, that was the ball-peen hammer tap that broke the windshield,” said Foley on Tuesday’s episode of “The Ariel Helwani Show.”
Buzz: Black Crowes Singer Chris Robinson Gets Into Spat With Fans Chanting ‘USA!’
Foley — a Trumpcritic known for personas like Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love during his WWE Hall of Fame career — declared that he wouldn’t be making appearances for the company so long as Trump was in office, calling the president’s reaction to the Reiners’ killings as the “final straw” for him in a statement to social media last year.
“Just heartless, unbelievably cruel comments coming from the most powerful man in the world finding joy in how somebody died,” said Foley of Trump in his interview with Helwani.

MAGA fan-turned-critic Shawn Ryan went ballistic on President Donald Trump during a podcast with Megyn Kelly and rattled off several problems he has with the president’s second term.
“I just don’t see any positivity coming out of this administration,” Ryan vented during the Monday episode of his podcast. “It seems very self-serving.”
He told Kelly he has a “list of sh*t” the Trump administration has screwed up, in his view, printed out. But he ran through several of his gripes off the top of his head while talking to Kelly — another pundit who backed Trump in 2024 but has since criticized him on numerous issues, like the Iran war.
“He f*ckin’ made it so he had Todd Blanche do his dirty work so that him or anybody in his family could not be audited by the IRS,” Ryan said. “What the f*ck is that ******* ?”
Ryan continued, “The drone company, the $400 million jet from Qatar, the executive club — you hear about that?”

LAS VEGAS — When drag legend Frank Marino headlined his first show in Las Vegas at the Riviera hotel and casino in 1985, drag was "underground."
"People would come to Las Vegas and that's when you'd go see your strip show, like a Chippendales or a Crazy Girls, and then you would see your drag show," Marino told USA TODAY.
As the longtime Sin City fixture prepares to take his final bow with "Frank Marino’s Divas, Drag & Drinks" at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas before retiring May 31, he reflected on about four decades of change — both in his act and in the city itself.
"Until you look at the history of it, you don't notice the change, because you're gradually doing it, but there's been great change since the beginning on how we do everything in the show," Marino said.
During Marino's 41 years on stage in Las Vegas, drag had gone from the underground to household popularity. He said he feels that he is "part of the history of drag, making it mainstream."

Prince William may be preparing for life as king, but behind palace walls, the future monarch is reportedly holding tightly to something much more ordinary: time with his closest friends. Fresh details are shedding light on the Prince of Wales’ carefully protected inner circle, revealing how the royal reportedly escapes the pressures of palace life through football trips, pub outings, barbecues, and annual holidays with what insiders call “the lads.”
The glimpse into Prince William’s private world comes after the prince was spotted looking more carefree than ever while celebrating Aston Villa’s Europa League triumph in Istanbul.
According to a royal source, Prince William increasingly values the rare moments he gets to spend outside the rigid expectations of royal life. “He’s a 40-something bloke, well off, with a happy family, but all that currently waits for him is a metaphorical straitjacket and a very heavy crown,” the source told Daily Mail.
The insider added that William is said to treasure his “life with the lads,” leaning on a close-knit circle of longtime friends as the reality of eventually becoming king grows heavier. Those friendships were reportedly on full display during his recent football trip to Istanbul, where William joined close friends to cheer on Aston Villa.
Among those reportedly joining Prince William in Turkey were longtime friends Thomas van Straubenzee, Edward van Cutsem, Edward’s teenage son Jake, and friend Ben Dawes. Thomas, now a senior executive at estate agency Knight Frank and godfather to Princess Charlotte, has known William since childhood.

Ariel Winter didn’t just play Alex Dunphy on Modern Family — she grew up alongside her.
For 11 seasons, audiences watched Winter as the hyper-intelligent, sometimes overlooked middle child in one of television’s most beloved families. When the show premiered, she was 11. When it ended, she was 22. In between, she navigated something few actors experience so publicly: adolescence unfolding in real time, in front of millions.
“It was a great chapter,” Winter, now 28, tells Yahoo. “We were very lucky to have the time that we had.”
That kind of longevity is rare. That kind of visibility, even more so. Perhaps it’s one reason she’s stayed so close to onscreen brother Nolan Gould, who remains, as she puts it, “my best friend for life.”
“I grew up on [Modern Family],” she says. “I had so many amazing moments.”
