PSG kick off their Ligue 1 campaign away at Rennes on Sunday at Roazhon Park.
The reigning champions arrive after mixed early results. PSG began August on a high by winning the UEFA Super Cup, beating Aston Villa 2–1, but their momentum stalled with a 1–0 loss to RC Lens in the Trophée des Champions. Over their last five games the team has recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat, leaving manager Luis Enrique keen to find more consistency in domestic play.
Enrique starts the **** le defence with a deep and mostly fit squad, though he must adapt tactically because of an early suspension in defence.
Left-back Nuno Mendes is sidelined after receiving a red card in the Trophée des Champions, so new signing Lucas Digne is expected to step in.
Captain Marquinhos returns to the starting lineup to lead the defence alongside Willian Pacho.

Liverpool targets Bradley Barcola (23) and Ibrahim Mbaye (18) are not expected to make PSG's matchday squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, according to Onze Mondial. The pair also sat out last week's Trophée des Champions against RC Lens. Both Barcola and Mbaye are expected to leave Les Parisiens in the final days of this summer transfer window. The France international is Liverpool's priority target to reinforce up front with talks reportedly making slow progress with the back-to-back UEFA Champions League winners.
Both Barcola and Mbaye took part in PSG's training session on Saturday, but they won't make Sunday's trip to Brittany. PSG were initially poised to host Rennes at Parc des Princes, but the ground's pitch has been hit with a fungal infection. The game will therefore be played at Roazhon Park. However, it remains to be seen whether PSG will host the return leg as Ligue 1.

Having spent the last season on loan at Leicester City, Jordan James (22) has once again returned to the EFL Championship, this time signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
James joined Stade Rennais from Birmingham City for a reported €5m fee back in the summer of 2024. However, the Wales international has struggled for game time at Roazhon Park. He has made just 25 appearances for the Breton club. Last season, he spent the season out on loan at Leicester City. The season ended in a failure and a relegation to League One.
Once again, James has been loaned out to a club relegated from the Premier League, Wolves. The Welsh midfielder has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Rennes. His move to Molineux also includes the option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign, as confirmed by the English club in Wednesday's press release.
