MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Eagles will open the season at home on Aug. 27 against Ohio Dominican. With just over a week between media day and kickoff, Morehead State is quickly shifting its focus to the regular season.
Here are some of the biggest takeaways from media day.
QB1 battle
The competition at quarterback remains ongoing.
With the graduation of Carter Cravens, Morehead State entered the offseason searching for its next starter. Bryce Patterson appears to be the leading candidate.

The complete non-conference schedule for the Dayton Flyers includes an exhibition game against Morehead State, plus regular-season home games against Siena and Southeastern Louisiana.
Those were the last matchups that hadn't been previously reported. UD released the full 2026-27 non-conference schedule on Monday, Aug. 10. Game times will be announced at a later date.
After playing 13 regular-season non-conference games for years, Dayton will play 14 this season. The NCAA is allowing teams to play as many as 32 games in the regular season for the first time instead of 31.
Dayton will play 18 Atlantic 10 Conference games. That schedule will be announced at a later date.
Dayton will play three exhibition games against Division I opponents for the first time after another NCAA rule change. The Flyers will open the season with five straight home games before playing in the Charleston Classic on Nov. 20 and 22.

Tennessee men's basketball and head coach Rick Barnes announced their 2026-27 nonconference schedule.
The Vols will play 14 nonconference games, including nine contests at home. Tennessee will also play eight games against Power Five opponents, including six matchups at Food City Center.
Tennessee's nonconference schedule will be contested Nov. 3-Dec. 29. The Vols will open their 2026-27 campaign on Nov. 3 for a second consecutive year, hosting Wofford at Food City Center.
Tennessee will also host Radford (Nov. 9), Tennessee State (Nov. 13), Michigan State (Nov. 17), Coastal Carolina (Nov. 20), Florida State in the ACC/SEC Challenge (Dec. 1), Morehead State (Dec. 16), Marist (Dec. 20) and Norfolk State (Dec. 29).
For a second consecutive season, Tennessee will compete in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Vols will open tournament play versus Maryland on Nov. 24. Tennessee will play either Iowa State or San Diego State on Nov. 26 before ending tournament play on Nov. 27.

Louisville women's basketball head coach Jeff Walz met with the media ahead of the 2026-27 season for the first time Monday, June 15, at the Planet Fitness Kueber Center.
Walz made changes to his staff following the Cardinals' Sweet 16 run, which ended in a loss to Michigan. He added some new faces from different backgrounds and experiences, and he talked after practice about what each one brings to Louisville.
Mike Bradbury joined the staff after spending the past 10 years as the head coach of New Mexico, where he went 202-112. He was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Prior to leading the Lobos, Bradbury spent time as a head coach at Morehead State and Wright State.
He brings experience to the staff and is someone with whom Walz is extremely familiar.
"Mike and I have been friends for 30-plus years," Walz said. "He's had tremendous success as a head coach at every stop he's had."
