As we gear up for the 2026 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down nearly every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko.
Texas A&M's run defense left plenty to be desired at times last season, and just as Elko made it a priority to overhaul the secondary with length and speed, he approached the linebacker room with the same intentionality. The staff has done a strong job building a youthful foundation, but they needed a veteran presence who could step in and stabilize the unit immediately. Enter senior Tulsa transfer Ray Coney.
Coney's importance grew even further once projected starter Daymion Sanford suffered a lower‑body injury during the Maroon & White Spring Game, sidelining him for an unspecified portion of the 2026 campaign. In his lone season at Tulsa, Coney was one of the most productive linebackers in the American Conference, recording 129 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble. His breakout year earned him 2025 American All‑Conference First Team honors, 2025 Phil Steele's American Conference First Team recognition, and a spot on the 2025 East‑West Shrine Bowl 1000 Watch List.
There's real optimism inside the program about what Coney can become in Elko's system, and the Aggies will need that development to materialize quickly as they search for his running mate until Sanford returns to the lineup.

WORCESTER — While Chad Tracy sat inside his office at Polar Park around 5 p.m. on April 25, the former WooSox manager made a rare call to his wife, Emily, during the middle of a Triple-A game.
Drenched in sweat and coated in mulch from her fingertips to toes, Emily, who was in the middle of landscaping the front yard of their home in Fairfield, Ohio, answered the phone.
"I said, 'Darn, what did you get kicked out of the game for?'" Emily recalled. "He said, 'Em, are you sitting down?' You start to go into panic mode that something bad happened. But he told me a plane was coming to pick him up that night to go manage (the Boston Red Sox) in Baltimore the next day.
"I was speechless."
Nearly four hours after telling his wife he'd been named interim manager of the Boston Red Sox, Tracy rolled a black suitcase through the lower bowel of Polar Park and left to board a plane headed for Baltimore.

BENTON — Brodie Garber knew down deep that at the end of his coaching career, he’d be back leading a girls basketball team.
He wasn’t sure when or where, but he just knew.
The answer came earlier this year, when Garber left his position as the boys basketball coach at Fairfield to take the job as the head girls coach of the Falcons.
Garber was the head boys coach at Fairfield for two years, posting a record of 29-16 including 16-6 last season. He also served as an ***** istant under Derek Hinen for the 2023-24 season, when the Falcons went to the Class 3A semistate.
While he wasn’t unhappy as the boys coach, Garber jumped at the opportunity to return to coaching the Fairfield girls, after Kyle Hartman resigned to take over as head coach at Warsaw.

Maryland shifts into the clear No. 1 spot after becoming the first team to officially clinch a spot in the WLL Championship.
Due to the World Lacrosse Championships taking place in Tokyo over the next two weeks, the next time we will see a WLL competition will be the final regular-season game on Aug. 8 between Boston and California.
Boston is officially out of the running with its latest loss to Maryland this past weekend in Fairfield, but California and New York remain fighting for the final spot to play against Maryland in the Championship.

Carolina Chaos defenseman Jack Rowlett has been placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury in the first quarter of Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Denver Outlaws that required the five-time All-Pro to be transported to the local hospital in Fairfield.
According to Dr. Paul Sethi, Medical Director at the PLL, Rowlett was diagnosed with both a cervical strain and a sternoclavicular strain on the left side of his body.
Rowlett will be reassessed heading into Carolina's regular-season finale against the Utah Archers on Aug. 7.
"He will be out the next two weeks, so three games," Chaos general manager Spencer Ford said on Monday. "[He is] in a lot of pain but will get better."
While on injured reserve, Rowlett will miss Carolina's game against the Boston Cannons on July 25, as well as the Chaos' back-to-back contests against the California Redwoods on July 31 and the Philadelphia Waterdogs on Aug. 1.

The 2026 MLB Draft was completed Sunday evening, with 681 players from around the United States being selected by the league's 30 franchises.
More than a dozen of these draftees have connections to Connecticut, ranging from Nutmeg State natives, local college stars and alums of the state's various collegiate summer league teams. Here's a look at all 13 players with Connecticut ties selected in this year's draft.
Ryan Oshinskie (Fairfield) - No. 192 overall:
Oshinskie is the highest-drafted Connecticut native in this year's draft, heading to the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth round to cap off an impressive rise from the Ivy League to the show. The 6-foot-3 righthander grew up in Stamford and starred at nearby Fairfield Prep, earning a pair of All-Southern Connecticut Conference selections.
The Brewers took a chance on Oshinskie even though the 20-year-old missed his entire 2026 college season at Brown due to injury, convinced by a stellar season in the Cape Cod Baseball League the previous summer. Oshinskie posted a superb 1.93 ERA across 13 appearances with the Orleans Firebirds, falling just short of the 1.20 mark he reached in the 2024 summer with the NECBL's Bristol Blues.

Jul. 1—More than 160 special needs athletes and their families are coming to Fairfield to participate in the Miracle Series.
Adult and youth athletes from Massachusetts, New Jersey, Iowa, New York, and Pennsylvania are headed to the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields July 9-12.
The weekend is hosted by the Joe Nuxhall Foundation and Miracle League Fields in conjunction with Casey's Clubhouse — the adaptive sports organization in Pittsburgh founded by Cincinnati Reds Hall of famer 'The Mayor' Sean Casey.
"We are super excited to see it grow. We've only hosted one program," said Tyler Bradshaw, executive director of the Nuxhall Foundation.
"We first partnered with Sean in 2022 and since then we've developed an informal network of Miracle leagues and adaptive sports organizations."

"Sister, Sister" star Tamera Mowry-Housley has brought her longtime California dwelling to the market for $2.7 million—months after revealing that she and her husband were in the process of building their "dream" family abode in Napa Valley.
Mowry, 47, and her spouse, Adam Housley, 54, announced in April that they had embarked on a very extensive renovation of a dilapidated property in wine country. Records show they purchased it for $3.8 million in October 2024.
At the time, the actress, who shot to fame while starring in the hit Nickelodeon series alongside her twin sister, Tia Mowry, admitted that the renovation represented a new chapter in her family's life. She joked that she was both excited and terrified to move to the country.
"I'm so excited but also a little nervous and anxious because I'm a city girl," shared Mowry-Housley, who launched a renovation series on her YouTube account.
Weeks after announcing their exciting news, the couple took the next step in their journey by putting their family's Fairfield, CA, home on the market—15 years after buying the 4,863-square-foot home for $1.4 million.

Erick All Jr. worried his career might be over back in 2024 when he re-tore the ACL he injured the year prior in his final college season at Iowa. Even now, as the Cincinnati Bengals tight end finally is back to practicing with his teammates, he can’t help but wonder if it could happen again.
That’s not to say the Fairfield High School graduate isn’t up for the challenge of completing his return to competition. He is already through the toughest part – a 19-month grueling recovery, healing and rehab process that has him almost cleared for full activities.
All finally feels comfortable on his surgically-repaired knee and showed it this week, participating in Organized Team Activities, but it’s tough not to have doubts after all he has been through to get to this point.
“Of course, yeah, I mean, I still do worry about it sometimes,” All said in his first interview with local media since the Nov. 3, 2024, re-injury. “I mean, you never really know. I try to just focus more on the controllables. I can't really control it if I get hurt or hurt again or not, but I'd say I think more about if it were to happen again instead of like coming back from it and not being able to get back to my full potential.”

Fenwick (22-8) edged Roger Bacon (21-9) 5-4 in the Division IV, Region 16 final at Day Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons. It is Fenwick's first regional ******* le since 1982.
They will play in the state semifinals June 13 in Akron against Richmond Edison or Lancaster Fairfield Union, who played later June 4. First pitch is 1 p.m. June 13.
Fenwick scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come from behind. With the bases loaded, senior Boyd Westerfield hit a grounder to the hole in shortstop. Bacon freshman Grayson Spears threw home but junior Isaac Barker beat the throw to score the winning run.
