Derry City interim manager Mark Connolly has reiterated that James McClean remains employed by the club despite speculation over his future.
Former Republic of Ireland international McClean attended an open training session on Tuesday amid reports that the club are attempting to find a settlement that will end his time at the Brandywell Stadium.
"It was interesting to see the speculation on him turning up for training [on Tuesday]," said Connolly, the Candystripes' director of football who took on responsibility for the first team following Tiernan Lynch's departure last week.
"Ultimately he's trained sometimes and he hasn't trained sometimes due to his age.
"James is a Derry City player and we keep moving forward. He's one of 20-odd players. They're all Derry City players."

Former club captain Mark Connolly has been put in temporary charge of first team affairs on an interim basis and has a chance to impress the Candystripes board in the post over the coming games.
Several other candidates will likely be on the lips and minds of the supporters of the Brandywell club, who may opt to wait until the end of the present campaign before making a permanent appointment.
Any potential new boss will take up the mantle of trying to secure the club's first league success since way back in 1997, an achievement which has eluded several high-profile managers over the years.

WORCESTER – Hard work, determination, a commitment to practice and perseverance. Those are the keys in which Lou Gehrig coach John Connolly credits to his team as they prepare to travel to DuBois, Pennsylvania for the Junior Little League All-Stars East Region Tournament.
"It feels great," Dominic Eilert said. "It's a great opportunity that we get to show people that we're great and how good we are, and we've been doing this. I've been playing for Lou Gehrig for a long time, so it's a good feeling to play with these kids, but I know them and they're all good kids."
Lou Gehrig defeated North Reading in the final on July 19 in Oxford to qualify for the East Regional. Connolly believes his team's depth is what has helped them all season long.
"All my kids can pitch," Connolly said. "I've got a lot of pitching depth. We've very strong. I think our biggest strength is our lineup. We can hit one through 12. We don't have a weak spot in our lineup. My 12 hitter is as good or close as good enough to my leadoff hitter."
The team's depth was tested in a game at Fitton Field, in which they found themselves short-staffed.

The 24-year-old Welshman has been considering his future at the Mornflake Stadium for several weeks but has decided to move on after two seasons.
Connolly joined the Railwaymen from Bristol Rovers for the start of 2024-25 and went on to make 71 appearances and score three goals.
He was among seven players offered new deals at the end of last season, but the club said he has chosen to leave "in search of a new challenge".
Lewis Billington, Stan Dancey, Luca Moore and Fin Roberts are the others still to sort their futures out after Conor Thomas agreed a new one-year contract two weeks ago.

On June 1, Reuters reported that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear CareDx's appeal in its false-advertising dispute with Natera, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTRA). It left intact lower-court rulings that denied CareDx damages over claims involving kidney transplant tests.
Reuters said the justices declined to review whether the diagnostics company owed damages for allegedly misleading advertisements comparing its Prospera test with CareDx's AlloSure test. It offered no explanation for the decision.
The report noted that US District Judge Colm Connolly overturned a nearly $45 million jury damages award in 2023 after finding no evidence that Natera, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTRA)'s statements actually misled customers. It still confirmed the jury's finding of false advertising. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals later affirmed that ruling.

NEW DELHI: Australia will look to continue their resurgence and seal the three-match T20I series when they take on Bangladesh in the second T20I at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.
After suffering a 1-2 defeat in the ODI series, Australia bounced back impressively in the shortest format, registering a four-wicket victory in the opening T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The visitors produced a clinical all-round performance in the series opener, with their spin attack doing the bulk of the damage. Adam Zampa and Joel Davies claimed three wickets each as Bangladesh were bundled out for 131 in 19 overs. India-born all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary, the first India-born male cricketer to represent Australia in six decades, also chipped in with a wicket.
Bangladesh had started brightly after captain Towhid Hridoy won the toss and opted to bat, reaching 39/1 in the fifth over. However, Australia's spinners turned the game around as the hosts lost seven wickets for just 60 runs, surrendering control of the innings.
In reply, Australia were briefly rocked by the early departures of skipper Mitchell Marsh, returning from an ankle injury, and Josh Inglis. Returning to ODI cricket after four years, Mosaddek Hossain made an unbeaten 86 off 70 ****** . Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 67, while opener Tanzid Hasan added 54 as Bangladesh posted 284/8.
