The Florida State Seminoles had to rely on their run game quite a bit in 2025 due to the inconsistency of former quarterback Tommy Castellanos. As a team, they racked up 2,624 yards in 12 games.
Running the ball well is something that FSU has done well under head coach Mike Norvell, who is back taking over play-calling duties. There's some big-time talent in the room for this season, and with transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels taking over as the starter, with the inconsistencies he's had, a strong run game will be beneficial and take some of the responsibility off of him.
With fall camp kicking off on Wednesday and the regular season set to begin in a month, let's dive into the running back room at Florida State.
RB Departures
Gavin Sawchuk: Sawchuk led all FSU running backs last year with 486 yards and eight touchdowns (second on the team in both categories) after playing with the Oklahoma Sooners for three seasons. He transferred to the Northwestern Wildcats for his final two years of eligibility.

Newly-appointed FIGC President Giovanni Malago is looking to rebuild the management of the Italy national team following the departures of Gennaro Gattuso and Gianluigi Buffon after the failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup earlier this year.
Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini remain the frontrunners for the role of head coach, but reports over the last few weeks have made it clear that Malago wishes to appoint a new technical director before making a final decision on the next CT.
Maldini has been touted as Malago’s favourite for the position of technical director, but the Milan legend has not yet given his go-ahead.

Harry Kane's superb nine-minute brace rescued England from a shock World Cup exit at the round of 32 stage and ******* ed a 2-1 comeback win over DR Congo in Atlanta.
Brian Cipenga gave the Congolese a shock lead seven minutes in, before Harry Kane spared the Three Lions' blushes heading home the equalizer before rifling home a fantastic finish into the top right corner with four minutes to go.
Thomas Tuchel's men were superior for most of the game, and had it not been for Lionel Mpasi-Nsau's efforts the scoreline could've been even more convincing for England – who face Mexico at the Azteca in the round of 16 on Monday.
England started threateningly, and had an attack within four minutes following a mix up in the middle from DR Congo. But a promising move fizzled out when Noni Madueke overhit his cross into the area.
But just three minutes later the Africans took a shock lead through Cipenga. Ex-Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba flicked a pinpoint ball onto the (now former) Castellon man to fire home at Jordan Pickford's near post after poor Three Lions defending.

RB Leipzig are pushing to sign Burnley FC's Maxime Estève, with talks centered around a contract which will last until 2031.
Sky Germany and Sacha Tavolieri are reporting that the Frenchman is open to the move, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
Leipzig have verbally indicated to Burnley they are willing to pay around €25million, however that's well below the English club's valuation.
They rate the player significantly higher at about €35-45million and are hoping that a Premier League suitor enters the race.
Behind the scenes, Leipzig are preparing for the possible departures of both Castello Lukeba and/or El Chadaille Bitshiabu .
