Maybe it's a me thing, but I've been craving the thrill and suspense of an award show. Luckily, tonight is the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, where NBC's Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay is hosting live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. As a self-proclaimed binge-watcher, I'm all caught up on tonight's nominees, led by The Pitt with 25 nominations and Hacks at 24, breaking the record for a comedy series to date. But it's not just the potential winners getting buzz; it's the red carpet arrivals, too.
We're tuning in to see which designers tonight's attendees are wearing and get a glimpse of which trends will define 2027—or, in this case, which controversial trends. Shailene Woodley, who won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Hulu's Paradise last week, arrived on tonight's red carpet in a look from Pierpaolo Piccioli's Balenciaga F/W 26 haute couture collection.
The trend in question? Sequin-embroidered trousers. Woodley wore the divisive pants with their runway pairing, a plunging periwinkle tank, but traded the oversize coat for a pair of burgundy opera gloves. Woodley's stylist, Karla Welch, introduced more color with a beautiful collared necklace crafted from Venetian glass by HOWL. The flooded hem hides Woodley's, I ***** ume, very tall heels.

Well, there is something about first love. You don't forget it so easily, especially when the story begins with a suspenseful, romance-novel twist. That was certainly the case for social media star Alix Earle and New York Giants wide receiver Braxton Berrios. Earle originally sparked curiosity back in 2023 when she casually introduced him to her followers as the mysterious "NFL man" she was making sushi with. After nearly three years together, the fan-favorite couple officially called it quits last December.
As Earle decided to move on from that chapter of her life, she rented a big truck to move out of her ex-boyfriend's house two months after the breakup. With her best friend Sally in the passenger seat and Earle behind the wheel, the content creator discussed what went wrong between the couple.
"There's a ton of pressure that comes from, like, having a public relationship and sharing so much and people loving our relationship. But we were both busy in our careers and doing long distance at the time. We weren't talking as much. We were barely communicating. There was a lack of intimacy towards the end of the relationship, and it started to just, like, dwindle away a little bit,"Earle said on the first episode of reality series Earle Meets World, released on Friday on Netflix.
Earle and Berrios met at a Gatsby-themed party in Miami. A friend of Berrios approached Earle to tell her to talk to Berrios, so Earle walked up to Berrios, shoved her hand in his face, and asked, "You wanted to meet me?" The two eventually hit it off, but Earle had to leave the party early without saying goodbye to the WR.
Braxton Berrios keeps the drama going both on and off the field. Subscribe for more interesting stories.

Mammoth make Barrett Hayton contract decision after Devils offer sheet originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Utah Mammoth and New Jersey Devils had the NHL world in a little bit of suspense.
The suspense is over. The Mammoth have made their decision on Barrett Hayton's contract after the New Jersey Devils and the center had agreed to an offer sheet.
In the end, the Mammoth decided to match the offer made to their unrestricted free agent.
"Hayton now has a one-year, $4.775M contract and cannot be traded until next July, after he is scheduled to become a UFA," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman wrote on X on Wednesday as he broke the news. "Any player signed to a one-year contract is eligible to extend after Jan. 1, though."

Can’t stop, won’t stop: White Sox notch another comeback with 2-1 win
Just when you’re sure the letdown is coming, they find a way to keep doing it. After dropping a sleepy one last night, the White Sox were on the verge of dropping another sleepy one in Seattle this evening, trailing 1-0 from the moment the game opened all the way until they had just two outs left in the game. Bryce Miller can only wonder what would have happened had he been allowed to go just a little farther.
I’ll leave you in suspense as to why that might be. And pretend you haven’t already read the headline.
This is the third night in a row that I’m spending here on the pages of South Side Sox recapping things with you all, so instead of trying to piece it all together into something interesting at the end, I’ll just let you know what I was thinking as this one unfolded, because if there’s one thing I’m great at, it’s using a lot of words to talk about very little. If you want to see how it happened, let it all unfold before your eyes!

Bryce Miller came out sitting in the high-90s with his fastball for the second straight outing, and while Sam Antonacci managed to fight some pitches off, the way he took care of Miguel Vargas to end the inning —specifically, the perfectly executed middle-high fastball that Vargas swung under, which is the speciality of Miller’s fastball-dominant ****** nal — makes me think we might be in for a long one.
