New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani defended police, prisons and jails during a Friday appearance on "The Clay Cane Show," putting distance between his administration and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) platform as political streamer Steven Bonnell, known online as "Destiny," told Fox News Digital that Mamdani would likely govern moderately while helping more radical candidates gain power.
Bonnell said Mamdani's control of a prominent and politically secure office could allow him to build support for other socialist lawmakers without implementing the DSA's most radical proposals himself.
"I think that Mamdani holds a very powerful, very safe office where he can be entrenched for a long time in order to 'hold the door open' for other, (arguably) more radical lawmakers in the future," he said.
