A Colorado elementary school teacher was found dead inside her home, and investigators said evidence at the home raised questions about her husband's account of what happened.
Patrick Theodore "Ted" Barnett, 40, was arrested in the death of his wife, 37-year-old Lindsey Barnett, and is being held without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder, Lakewood police said.
An arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital revealed new details about the investigation and what detectives said led them to suspect Barnett in his wife's death.
Barnett called 911 shortly after 6 a.m. on Aug. 13, 2026 and said Lindsey had cut herself and her throat and was not breathing, according to the affidavit. He sounded frantic and told dispatchers their two young children, a toddler and an infant, were inside the Lakewood home.

July 30 (Reuters) – Military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder who got no relief from conventional treatments went into remission following treatment with the psychedelic drug psilocybin in a small U.S. pilot study, researchers say.
In the United States, psilocybin and almost all other psychedelic drugs are controlled substances in the same class as heroin or ecstasy, meaning they are deemed to have no medical use and high risk for abuse.
In April, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing health regulators to speed reviews of psychedelic treatments and increase federal funding for research into their use.
The current early-stage study – the first to formally test the treatment in veterans with PTSD – adds to earlier evidence suggesting a benefit from psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, said study leader Alan Davis of The Ohio State University College of Social Work.

Republican Senate candidate Mike Collins ended a press conference Thursday after repeatedly declining to answer questions about his relationship with a son-in-law who promoted White nationalist ideology and circulated antisemitic content online, as first revealed by CNN's KFile.
Collins, a two-term congressman from Georgia, was appearing at Monroe County Hospital to outline his health care priorities.
But reporters pressed him to address online statements from his son-in-law, David Alan Scheer II, and whether Scheer had done business or campaign work for him. Collins said the matter had been "fully addressed" and pivoted to attacking Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.
"You know, we've fully addressed that," Collins said. "But Jon Ossoff refuses to disavow these democrat socialist movements in our country."

July 14 (Reuters) - Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 340 Ukrainian drones had been dispatched to the area surrounding the capital over a 24-hour period and most had been downed by anti-aircraft units far from the city.
"Most of them were neutralised by air defence forces on the outer approaches," Sobyanin wrote on Telegram. "More than 50 enemy drones were destroyed on their way to Moscow."
Ukrainian drones approach the Russian capital routinely and Sobyanin provides a running account of the numbers taken out by anti-aircraft units.
Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russian infrastructure sites, mainly linked to the oil industry.
Ukraine's military said on Tuesday it had carried out drone strikes on the Salavat petrochemical complex in the Urals and the Afipsky refinery in southern Russia. Attacks on oil infrastructure have contributed to gasoline shortages throughout Russia.
