HAVANA, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Cuba's top diplomat said on Monday there are no talks underway with the United States, nor were there any plans for future negotiations, amid a "genocidal" blockade that Cuba says has cost the island nation over $8 billion in economic damages in the last year.
"There are no negotiations or agendas, although a willingness to stay in contact remains despite the lack of progress," Cuba's foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, told reporters at a press conference in Havana.
Rodriguez said that damages caused by the decades-old U.S. trade embargo against Cuba had jumped 7 percent in 2025 versus the previous year, to $8.1 billion.
Cuba's foreign minister said the financial hit to Cuba`s economy would balloon in the first months of 2026, after the Trump administration imposed an oil blockade on the island that has all but decimated output and led to nationwide blackouts that now span days.

DUBAI, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday the deaths of six more military personnel from U.S. strikes this week, bringing the military death toll to at least 13.
The U.S. strikes on Tuesday were the most extensive for weeks. In the latest report on military deaths, Tasnim said six members of the regular military, including three pilots, had been killed in southern Iran. It gave no additional detail on the location.
Tasnim had earlier reported that Tuesday's strikes had killed three members of the paramilitary Basij on Lavan Island in the Gulf, with their funeral taking place in southern Iran on Wednesday.
The strikes also killed four members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) Aerospace Force in western Iran, according to a statement by the guards published on Wednesday.
Iranian military casualties in the conflict that began in late February have been reported periodically, without official confirmation of overall tolls.

Patrick Reeder's 15-year-old daughter, Sophie, has been missing for just over nine years. Since then, the case has gone cold and there have been few developments, he said.
Desperate for answers, Reeder is depending on detectives investigating his daughter's disappearance to crack the case.
But their latest investigative tool is not exactly what he had in mind.
"I just don't get it," Reeder told CNN. "A psychic?"

Summer Farmen, a mom of three, was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer despite never smoking.
The condition, known as alk-positive lung cancer, inspired her to become an advocate to give back.
Farmen is celebrating six years as a survivor thanks to targeted therapy medications that fight tumors.
When Summer Farmen first noticed the shortness of breath and persistent tiredness, she didn't think much of it.
It was early 2020, but COVID wasn't her first thought, since she otherwise felt fine.
