When Idina Menzel should've been celebrating some of her career's biggest accomplishments, the singer and award-winning performer was dealing with a deeply personal struggle. On a Comic-Con panel, Menzel reflected on two of her career's biggest highlights: "Frozen" and "If/Then," both of which came around 2013. According to Menzel, 55, she was also going through a "really hard" split from Diggs, whom she married in 2003, during that time.
Amid the complicated split, though, Menzel found solace in her role as Elizabeth in the Broadway musical "If/Then," playing a woman who returned to New York City after a divorce. "The story of the show was so much about a woman who's making different choices in her life and finding her identity," she said.
