Ben Brown's separation from the New England Patriots lasted only a few days. New England brought the veteran offensive lineman back Tuesday as part of another round of roster changes.
Brown was released during final roster construction after dealing with an injury in the preseason. His return restores a trusted interior reserve who already knows New England's system and provides experience at multiple positions.
The Patriots also added rookie linebacker Erick Hunter to the active roster. The two signings filled their 53-man roster following an unusually active stretch of waiver claims, releases and practice-squad additions.
Brown's return might not create the attention of a major trade, but it addresses a practical concern.
