The high school football season is ready for its first full slate of games in the Greater Savannah area with kickoffs set throughout the Coastal Empire and beyond on Friday, Aug. 21.
Things got started a day early for Calvary Day as the Cavaliers made the trip down to Brunswick on Thursday night. The Cavs came back from a halftime deficit to knock off the Terrors in a 49-22 non-region victory.
There are some big games on the docket tonight.
Benedictine, which is coming off a run to the Class 4A state finals last year where the Cadets lost to Creekside in a 42-39 battle, is set to host another state finalist in Toombs County, another talent laden-squad. That game kicks off at Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
Effingham County plays at Richmond Hill as the teams renew their rivalry.
