Fernando Mendoza got the start for the Raiders along with the most of the Raiders' second team offense. And it was not a good start to that...start. On his fifth play of the game, Mendoza threw a short dump pass over the middle and had it picked clean by Wade Woodaz and returned 80 yards for a touchdown.
It is possible the mistake was made by running back Mike Washington who began to move after the pass was thrown, leaving Woodaz was in perfect position to catch it and was gone for the score.
The defensive score came on the heels of the Texans offense driving down the field for an opening drive touchdown, making it a 14-0 game.
The pick six was not dissimilar to joint practices with the Texans on Tuesday where Mendoza also threw a pick six.
That one coming after some good work prior to that. This one, he's going to have to put it behind him and rally.
