The Rochester Red Wings rallied late for a 5-2 victory over the Charlotte Knights on Friday night at ESL Ballpark, scoring twice in the seventh inning to take the lead and adding two insurance runs in the eighth.
Rochester struck first when Seaver King led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run to left field, his eighth homer of the season. Charlotte answered in the third on an RBI single by Mario Camilletti, then moved ahead 2-1 in the fifth when Andy Weber connected for a solo homer.
The Red Wings broke through in the seventh. Trey Lipscomb and Sam Petersen delivered singles. Liover Peguero, making his Rochester debut, then lined a two-out single to center for his first hit as a Red Wing, driving in both runners and giving Rochester a 3-2 lead.
Rochester added breathing room in the eighth after Phillip Glasser was hit by a pitch and Yohandy Morales doubled. Trey Lipscomb followed with a two-run double to left field, scoring both runners and extending the advantage to 5-2.
Lipscomb paced the Red Wings offense by going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. King finished 2-for-4 with a homer, while Peguero drove in two runs and Petersen added a hit and scored a run. Rochester collected eight hits in the win.
