The Florida State football program got an early jump on its 2028 recruiting class in June when three-star athlete Chayse Brown committed to the Seminoles. His recruitment is not over, though, and the Florida Gators are working to flip the Ruskin, Florida, product.
While Brown recently said that he was "locked in" with the Seminoles, he is set to visit multiple other programs during the 2026 college football season, with the Gators getting one of those visits. Despite Florida only extending him a scholarship offer in June, he has known the coaching staff since his freshman year of high school, and that has caught his attention.
"I like Florida a lot, he told Blake Alderman of Gators Online. "They're in the big picture for sure. I like their coaching staff. I feel like we have a great bond. I've talked to them since my freshman year when they were at their last schools. Since they've gotten to UF, we've kept that going, and now they can contact me more. Every time I've visited, I can see how they're coaching guys up and how it's like in the meetings. They're big on developing and coaching their guys to be the best. They're big on that, and it makes me big on them."
Brown is ranked as the No. 570 overall player and No. 26 athlete in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 73 player from Florida.
He played on both sides of the ball at Lennard High School as a sophomore, and both FSU and Florida are open to him playing offense or defense at the next level. He finished the year with six tackles and one interception on defense. He also caught 20 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns.
