CLEVELAND — The Guardians are planning to call up switch-hitting shortstop Angel Genao from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers on Wednesday, Aug. 5, according to multiple reports.
Genao is ranked 39th on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list. He is the No. 2-ranked prospect in Cleveland's farm system, according to MLB Pipeline, trailing only Ralphy Velazquez.
The 22-year-old Genao's expected promotion was first reported by Yancen Pujols.
Genao has played 72 games with Triple-A Columbus this season, batting .309 with 42 RBIs, 10 home runs, 17 doubles, a triple, nine steals and an .889 OPS.
Genao also spent 24 games with the Double-A Akron RubberDucks this season, hitting .271 with 11 RBIs, three home runs, three doubles, two steals and an .830 OPS.
