Danny Silva isn't sure what his future holds inside or out of the cage.
The UFC featherweight was simply going through his usual training routine, but knew something was wrong. Silva (11-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) said he decided to push through as he often does, but things quickly became more concerning when he discovered swelling on his neck and chest.
According to Silva, a friend told him to go to the emergency room to get checked out. Heeding that advice may have saved Silva's life. Multiple blood clots and a pulmonary embolism were discovered. Silva said his hospital stay lasted three days, and although he's home now, there are still questions to be answered.
It was just a few months ago at UFC Fight Night 270 in London when Silva last competed. He faced Kurtis Campbell and won that fight by TKO in the second round to pull off an upset and bounce back from the first loss of his UFC run. While he didn't have another fight on the books just yet, now he wonders when, if ever, that may come – but he says he will keep fighting to continue his career.
