MARIETTA, Ga. — A hat trick by Arnaud Tattevin and an extended shootout helped Carolina Core FC surge past Atlanta United 2 by a 3-3 (10-9 in penalty kicks) score in MLS NEXT Pro soccer Friday at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground.
The Foxes (4-10-8, 23 points) trailed by two after Atlanta (10-6-4, 34 points) scored twice in the opening 20 minutes.
But Tattevin answered with a penalty kick in the 38th minute and a score in the first extra minute of the half — each time pulling within one. He netted the equalizer in the 50th minute.
Ryan Baer, David Diaz, Nolan Evers, Antonio Pineda, Corey Lundeen, Ricks Ford, Graham Ford, Rashid Tetteh, Ricardo Montenegro and Bryce Swinehart each scored in the shootout.
Nolan Anderson made a diving save to his left in the 10th round to earn the extra point for CCFC, which will host Huntsville City FC on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
