On the day the Mets honored the 1986 championship team, the 2026 Mets highlighted their dissimilarity to that squad in a 6-2 loss to the Marlins at Citi Field. Despite a shaky start from Zac Thornton, the game remained close until the middle innings thanks to a Tyrone Taylor homer that got the Mets back in it, but Daniel Duarte had his first truly poor outing out of the bullpen this season to give the Marlins some cushion in a game that featured a lot of names we are going to see a lot more often in the final couple of months of the season after the trade deadline.

As expected, the reward to Xzavion Curry for soaking up five innings in relief on Friday night was a ticket back to Syracuse. Kevin Herget was recalled yesterday to take Curry's spot on the roster.
