Barcelona's search for a new number has hardly extended beyond Julian Alvarez, as the club remain determined to sign the Argentine forward.
Other names have been linked with a move to Catalonia, but the club have never shown any concrete interest. Joao Pedro, to that end, perhaps came the closest.
Earlier in the summer, the Brazilian was a serious alternative for Barcelona to reinforce their attacking unit but a move never materialised.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona's option to sign Pedro is now permanently closed as Chelsea are on the verge of extending his contract.
