MLB teams won't get another look at a potential trade candidate before Monday's trade deadline.
The Detroit Tigers scratched Casey Mize from Friday night's scheduled start against the Athletics, according to The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen. Mize is healthy, and the Tigers have no deal in place for the 29-year-old, but they'll skip him as a precaution.
Mize is now scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Of course, that hinges on him staying with Detroit through the deadline.
Mize has followed a 2025 All-Star campaign with even better results this season. The right-hander has registered a 2.70 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and career-high 24.9 percent strikeout rate in 16 stellar starts.
