The catcher position has been the Yankees' Achilles heel all season, but they may find their answer in the coming days.
The Yankees have the second-worst OPS (.531) from the catcher position in MLB. The duties have been split between Austin Wells, Ali Sanchez and J.C. Escarra this season, with Wells playing in 70 games and holding a .163 batting average and .524 OPS.
The Yankees are expected to pursue an upgrade at the position ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline, and The Athletic's Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal have thrown a new name into the mix.

"The Cincinnati Reds' Tyler Stephenson, one available catcher, might become an alternative for the Yankees, and other teams are pursuing the Minnesota Twins' Ryan Jeffers," Sammon and Rosenthal wrote on Thursday.
