Every player wants to hit the ground running and start the new season fast once training camp begins. But for which Jacksonville Jaguars players is this a must?
The reasons a strong training camp showing is vital can vary from player to player, but all three of these offensive players require a quick start once practices begin.
Long's roster spot is in jeopardy this year. The additions of Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol in the draft have made for a crowded tight end room. More likely than not, Long and Quintin Morris are competing for one roster spot.
While Long brings pass-catching upside to the position, Morris is the better blocker and more heavily contributes on special teams, with those two areas potentially being viewed as more valuable by the coaching staff. If Long is going to make a strong roster push, he'll have to show he can contribute as a blocker and on teams.
Similarly to Long, Edoga was on the roster last year, but he could be on the outside looking in this season. Edoga has the versatility to play both guard and tackle -- which is valuable -- but the Jaguars invested top 100 picks the last two years in the offensive line unit, selecting Wyatt Milum and Emmanuel Pregnon.
