Real Madrid striker Gonzalo García is now expected to stay at the club past this summer, having performed at a high level during the first few training sessions under José Mourinho, according to a report from COPE's Arancha Rodríguez.
Gonzalo was rumored to be on his way out of the club, with several teams interested in his signing. However, the coaching staff made the decision to keep him as Gonzalo's profile as a striker could be useful throughout the season. The current roster lacks a target man and Mourinho has always valued that kind of role, so Gonzalo will likely have some minutes this upcoming year, even if he will be expected to come off the bench almost every game.
Mourinho, his coaching staff and the board will still have to make some important decisions regarding the future of players like Mastantuono, Brahim or Asencio.
