The future of Verdigris football won't be under the Friday night lights just yet.
Instead, it will begin this week with dozens of young athletes taking their first steps onto the field.
The Verdigris football program will host its annual Future Cardinal Football Camp on Thursday and Friday, July 16-17, giving boys entering first through sixth grades an opportunity to learn the game from Cardinal coaches and players.
The two-day camp will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. each day at the Verdigris High School football field.
Designed for players of all experience levels, the camp will focus on teaching football fundamentals while emphasizing skill development, teamwork and fun.
