US-based medical technology company VB Spine has signed a definitive agreement with Augmedics to acquire the exclusive rights to the computed tomography-to-fluoroscopy (CT-Fluoro) technology for spine applications.
The agreement follows VB Spine's earlier acquisition of the exclusive rights to the Augmedics xvision Spine System platform.
The CT-Fluoro technology enables surgeons to register a patient's preoperative CT scan using standard fluoroscopic imaging.
This process could reduce reliance on intraoperative CT or 3D imaging systems during spinal procedures, potentially broadening workflow options and reducing imaging requirements.
VB Spine stated that the technology is intended to increase accessibility to augmented reality navigation for a wider variety of facilities and surgical settings.
