The Pensacola 1559 Pelicans have punched their ticket to the semifinals of the League for Clubs Conference, setting up a highly anticipated clash against longtime rival Tallahassee SC. The two clubs will meet on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:00 PM CT, with the winner advancing to the conference finals.
The matchup marks the latest chapter in a rivalry that has defined regional competition for years, and both sides are expected to bring a season's worth of intensity to the pitch. Pensacola 1559 enters the contest carrying momentum from a strong run through the conference stage, and club leadership says the squad is ready for the challenge ahead.
"This is exactly the kind of match our fans want to see — a semifinal with everything on the line against a rival we respect and love competing against," said Pensacola 1559 Owner, Justin Witkin. "We're proud of how our group has fought to get here, and we're ready to bring that same energy on Wednesday."
Kickoff between the Pelicans and the Lions is set for 7:00 PM CT on Wednesday, July 8 at Ashton Brosnaham Stadium. Tickets can be pre-purchased online at pensacola-fc.com or at the gate.
Pensacola 1559 also extends its congratulations to youth club partner Coastal Rush, which capped off a tremendous season by sending 10 of its 12 teams to ECNL Regional League (RL) regionals. Highlighting the club's success, the 2010 Boys team advanced even further, earning a berth at ECNL RL Nationals in Virginia.
