The National Marbles Tournament is more than a century old, beginning in 1922. According to the tournament website, "mibsters" (marble shooters) compete for national honors, college scholarships and numerous prizes and awards. More than 1,200 games are anticipated over the four-day tournament.
Mibsters ages 7 to 14 who have won a local championship are welcome to compete at the Ringer Stadium each year the weekend after Father's Day for friendly competition, fun on the boardwalk and rides.
Members of a national committee operate the tournament, which is composed of a group of volunteer men and women from around the country who have a common interest in the game of marbles. National Marbles Tournament Inc. is a nonprofit organization.
