Princess Diana had important lessons she wanted to instill in Prince William and Prince Harry before her death.
On Tuesday, June 9, a newly unearthed letter from Diana sent to a man named Michael Barratt will go to auction through Reman Denise Auctions. Barratt first wrote Diana “a supportive letter telling her how hard it can be to move on and that life can be better in time,” after watching her Panorama interview in November 1995, per the Reman Denise Auctions website, and in response, she sent him a two-page handwritten letter a week after the interview.
In her interview with journalist Martin Bashir, Diana — who had already been separated from King Charles III — spoke candidly about her marital problems and her personal struggles.
“The Princess thanks Mr Barratt for his lovely letter, having just received it after her return from her trip to Argentina,” the auction house said about the contents of her letter. “She goes on to say how touched she is by the contents and by his profound words, and in particular relates to his sentiments of self-knowledge and moving on in life.”
Diana further detailed what she wanted to teach her two sons, whom she shares with Charles, 77.
