When Tesla (TSLA) reports earnings on Wednesday, it will update investors on the myriad businesses bringing in revenue to the company. But investors will also be hoping for an update on one of Tesla's biggest future expenses: the Terafab.
The joint project with Elon Musk's other company, **** e Exploration Technologies (SPCX), known as **** eX, was announced in March and pitched as an effort to build the largest semiconductor factory in the world. Initial filings already estimate the Terafab could cost up to $119 billion.
Despite some initial progress, the project is still far from being a reality.
"Until Terafab demonstrates competitive yields and volume production, it should be viewed as a highly ambitious supply-chain project rather than an established cost advantage," wrote Bill Birmingham, Managing Director at REX Shares, in an email response.

Six months ago, ******* eX (NASDAQ: SPCX) was a private rocket company. Today, it is a public one worth more than $2 trillion, and its most intriguing new project has nothing to do with launching rockets. In March 2026, Elon Musk unveiled Terafab, a sprawling semiconductor venture, run alongside his electric-car company Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and AI start-up xAI, with Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) later signing on to contribute manufacturing technology. The pitch is audacious: build chips not just for cars and robots, but for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers in orbit.
For a company this new to the public market, it's worth asking what a bet like that could mean -- and what it's worth today.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Terafab begins with a prototype fab in Austin and a far larger complex planned elsewhere in Texas. Intel joined the effort in April to contribute its process technology, including its next-generation 14A manufacturing process for the full-scale plant. The scale is staggering: ******* eX has pegged the initial investment at about $55 billion and the total build-out at up to $119 billion.
Interestingly, the ******* e angle is what sets it apart. Musk has said that a large share of Terafab's output is aimed at chips for artificial-intelligence data centers in orbit, where abundant sunlight provides power, and cooling would be easier.

Shares of semiconductor equipment giant ASML Holdings (NASDAQ: ASML) rallied 24.3% in June, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
ASML didn't report any financial news during the month; however, there were numerous positive news items on ASML and semiconductor investment generally. Elon Musk visited the company's headquarters around the same time as ******* e Exploration Technologies' (NASDAQ: SPCX) initial public offering, as ******* eX has ambitions to become its own chipmaker.

Additionally, positive news and earnings reports from the memory sector increased expectations for memory production investment, with several Wall Street ******* ysts increasing their expectations for wafer front-end (WFE) equipment investment amid the AI boom.
The month of June was dominated by the IPO of ******* eX, which proved to be a boon for many of ******* eX's vendors. It also proved a boon for many semiconductor equipment stocks, as the $86 billion or so raised from new shareholders could provide ample initial capital for Musk's Terafab project. Musk envisions Terfab as a massive semiconductor manufacturing entity co-owned by ******* eX and Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) to serve both companies' large future ambitions.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) was among the stocks on Jim Cramer's radar on Mad Money, as he advised investors to care about where a stock is going, not where it has been. Cramer called it his "new favorite stock in this market," as he commented:
Many of the Fed officials want to raise rates because, from their perspective, the economy's running too hot… And that news, which came out at 2:00 PM, immediately caused the market to roll over, which is when you want to pounce, and which stocks do you want to buy? Okay, I told club members that the answer is my new favorite stock in this market, Intel. We know the story. We had the CEO Lip-Bu Tan on our show, and he was talking about how we're going to need a ton of CPUs… CPUs are Intel's bread and ******* er. As the demand for agentic AI explodes, it's all about the ratio…
In fact, Lip-Bu Tan told us it can go to as many as four CPUs for one GPU, four CPUs. That's incredible. CPUs are Intel's wheelhouse. It's going to produce an explosion of business for Intel. The stock still finished up 3.5% today on a really horrible day, but it did pull back a couple of bucks from where it was trading before the Fed statement. Another key part of the Intel story is the chip manufacturing business, which is similar to what Taiwan Semi does… Customers increasingly need alternative sources of advanced chip-making from Taiwan Semi. That's great for Intel's foundry business.
Companies are increasingly looking for US-based supply to protect against geopolitical risk, another reason to like Intel. Now, under the previous CEO, Intel spent billions of dollars on foundries, and they were a mess. Under Lip-Bu Tan, who's a real engineer, the problems have been solved. There are going to be foundries coming online for several years now, and I'm confident that they'll all end up being solidly profitable. Today, we learned that Intel has started production of an 18A-P chip node foundry, which, if successful, could get some orders from Apple. Elon Musk's giant Terafab project is another Intel partner. There could be many things occurring. These are all because of Lip-Bu Tan.

North America is home to many of the world's leading and most valuable companies, including ****** eX and Tesla, both run by Elon Musk. But there are also many solid businesses in Europe involved in tech that make compelling investments, helping U.S. investors diversify outside domestic markets.
There's one company in particular, however, that has gotten the attention of Musk, one which he believes is the best in Europe, and that's ASML Holding (NASDAQ: ASML). Here's a look at what makes that company so special, and whether it can be a great investment today.

ASML plays an important role in the tech sector, as its photolithography machines etch patterns onto chips. It has a virtual monopoly on extreme ultraviolet machines used in the newest and most advanced chips. For Musk, these machines are vital to Terafab and to his vision of creating a massive chipmaking factory.
Its dominant position in tech has enabled ASML to become one of the most valuable companies outside of North America, with a market cap of around $730 billion. Last year, its sales totaled 33 billion euros, and its top line has grown by 54% over the past three years. It also generates healthy profit margins of around 30%.

Elon Musk's proposed TeraFab chip manufacturing facility in Texas, intended to support AI infrastructure expansion, is already drawing attention from chip-equipment supplier ASML (NASDAQ:ASML), according to Reuters.
ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet warned that Musk's semiconductor ambitions tied to Tesla Inc.(NASDAQ:TSLA), xAI and **** eX could further strain an already tight global chip industry. "Demand on AI is coming so strongly that we will be in a supply-limited market for quite a while," Fouquet told Reuters on the sidelines of a May 19 tech event in Antwerp, Belgium.
ASML expects the global semiconductor market could eventually reach $1.5 trillion by 2030 as AI-related demand accelerates, he said.

SpaceX’s looming debut on the Nasdaq marketplace might be center stage right now, but the rocket/AI company is continuing operations as that IPO draws near — and not all of its actions are winning it fans.
SpaceX has worked out a deal with officials in Grimes County, Texas to completely forego paying property taxes on its $55 billion Terafab semiconductor chip manufacturing facility. Instead, the company will pay a $10 million lump sum to the county (1), followed by $20 million for the next 35 years.
