David Davidov said he stood for 20 seconds in shocked silence when a longtime customers Facetimed him this summer to show off a once-in-a-lifetime prize that had come from his strip-mall store west of Boca Raton.
It was a unicorn in the world of baseball trading cards: a 2026 Shohei Ohtani Topps Chrome card, the only one made.
It features the Los Angeles Dodger's signature in both English and Kanji, characters used in the ***** anese writing system. In the center of the card there are two game worn Major League Baseball logo jersey patches marking Ohtani's consecutive National League MVP awards in 2024 and 2025.
It's become one of the world's most expensive sports cards. The person who scored the card later sold it to the online network Secure Collectibles for $11 million.
People come to Boca Sports Cards all the time to buy a pack of baseball cards, which can range from $7 to $500, but since the unicorn emerged, Davidov said his business, in the Sandalwood Plaza shopping center along State Road 7, has welcomed a revolving door of new and old customers and the phone hasn't stopped ringing as others hope to capture some magic of their own.

WIMBLEDON — Felix Auger-Aliassime was involved in the "best point" of his career as he punched his ticket to a Wimbledon quarterfinal clash with Novak Djokovic.
The Canadian recorded a 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1 victory in four hours and 26 minutes against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
In a thrilling match of drama the pair also played out an insane rally — which the No.3 seed ended up losing — but he was still beaming with a smile and happy to be involved in a point that left the entire court on its feet.
"It was insane. Best point I've ever played, just 'cause that live reaction from the crowd. Now I can talk about it. When you have the full roar of the crowd, the full crowd up on their feet while the point is playing on, it shook me, like, middle of the point," Auger-Aliassime said.

A five-set Wimbledon thriller between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina ended in a fiery handshanke and a heated argument after match point.

But the epic fourth-round clash, which produced one of the points of the tournament earlier in the fourth set, ended in bad blood and two tense discussions between the players.
The dispute related to a medical timeout called by Davidovich Fokina after he appeared to go over his ankle when sliding on the grass, just after he saved two match points towards the end of the fourth set.
As Auger-Aliassime served for the match, Davidovich Fokina was left hobbling after appearing to go over his ankle when chasing down a ball behind the baseline.

Welcome to the Wimbledon briefing, where The Athletic will explain the stories behind the stories on each day of the tournament.
On Day 7, there was one of the points of the year, injury drama and a Wimbledon triumph for a star with a complicated record.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina lay flat on his back, his chest rising and falling. As he sat up, he lent Félix Auger-Aliassime a wry smile, almost in disbelief. At the back of the court, the Canadian, breathing equally as heavily, was also stunned.
With No. 3 seed Auger-Aliassime two sets to one up, leading 3-1 and down 0-30 on No. 22 seed Davidovich Fokina’s serve in the fourth set, the duo played one of the best points of the year so far.

Cameron Norrie was beaten by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at Queen's in the Briton's first singles match since suffering a rib injury in May.
Norrie has often been the last Briton standing at Grand Slams but had to retire injured from his first-round French Open match with the problem last month.
He returned to the court in the men's doubles at Queen's on Monday, where he and Australian partner Alex de Minaur lost 6-4 7-5 to India's Yuki Bhambri and Michael Venus of New Zealand.
On Tuesday, the British number one started strongly against world number 22 Davidovich Fokina but ultimately faded to a 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 loss.
Norrie went an early break up against the Spaniard but Davidovich Fokina responded straight away, before holding firm in the tie-break.
