A surreal crash at NASCAR's O'Reilly Series Nu Way 225 on Saturday could have been so much worse.
The end of the first stage saw a 10-car crash hit pit road as the entire field entered for fresh tires. It began with Rajah Caruth's No. 88 car getting spun out and ended with the road fully clogged and the race on ice.
Caruth, Brandon Jones, Harrison Burton, Dean Thompson, Jeb Burton, Ryan Sieg, Patrick Staropoli, Jeremy Clements, Nicholas Sanchez and Anthony Alfredo were all involved, with some sustaining race-ending damage.

The bigger worries were for the crew of Brent Crews in the No. 19 car. Crews had already pitted and was receiving work when Sanchez's car barreled into his right rear, coming within inches of significant contact with rear tire changer Bryan Backus.

McDonald's grew U.S. comparable sales 0.8% last quarter, missed estimates, and by Tuesday morning Joe Erlinger was no longer running the American business after almost 7 years. Skye Anderson, a 26-year company lifer, gets it now, with a mandate to bring "focus and urgency" to the home market. Reassuring to learn those were previously unavailable.

The market's top rental bat is reportedly off the board. Contact wizard Luis Arraez is heading from San Francisco to Philadelphia, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The 29-year-old Venezuelan has been one of the game's most unique position players for a while now. He strikes out and whiffs less often than anyone, but also barrels the ball up less than anyone. Call him a throwback, call him an old soul, call him overrated, but Arraez is a phenomenal change of pace for a Phillies lineup that strikes out far too often.
Since the beginning of time, it seems, the Phillies and their president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski have been searching for a right-handed outfielder come deadline time. Arraez, a lefty infielder, is neither of those things, but he's good enough with the stick that the defensive fit is a secondary concern.
But it's still an area Dombrowski and skipper Don Mattingly need to get sorted. For the past few seasons, Philly has had a static infield alignment of Bryce Harper at first, Bryson Stott at second, Trea Turner at short and Alec Bohm at third. Kyle Schwarber's presence keeps the DH spot clogged up with home runs. Arraez has been adamant about staying at second base ahead of another trip to free agency this winter. So how does he slot in? There are a bevy of options.
Harper, as recently as last week, expressed a willingness to move back to the outfield, where he spent the early years of his career. That would push Bohm to first, Stott to third and give Arraez the everyday second base job. Bohm could also move to the bench, or get dealt elsewhere before Monday's 6 p.m. ET deadline. Another path, as reported by The Athletic's Matt Gelb, would be trying the fleet-footed Stott in the outfield.
It wasn't that long ago — literally last winter — that Arraez was considered a below-average first baseman. But he signed with the Giants, in part, to prove that he could still handle the keystone, which he has. Still, it's worth noting he's graded out closer to average over the past few months following an elite defensive April.

When the Lions fell to the 49ers 34-31 in the NFC Championship at the end of the 2023 season in heartbreaking fashion, head coach Dan Campbell addressed the team and told them that might have been their only shot. Last year, they fell further, going 9-8 and actually finishing last in the NFC North. Now, Jared Goff turns 32 in October. The offensive line has taken a step back. The secondary was the team’s weak spot before everything happened with Terrion Arnold. As of right now, the Lions are still the favorites in the NFC North, but the Packers and Bears are right there, and the Vikings could pop if Kyler Murray still has it. So the window isn’t closed. But if things don’t work for the Lions in 2026, the questions are really going to start up in earnest.

The fourth is Jared Goff, who has been the QB10, QB7, QB6 and QB8 across the last four seasons. Goff is fifth in total fantasy scoring in that time, behind the other three and Lamar Jackson.

One of Goff’s biggest virtues during is stretch of success has been healthy, because he hasn’t missed a game since 2021. In fantasy points per game, his rankings have been QB14, QB14, QB7 and QB13. But look at those numbers again. Even if you look at the numbers in the unfriendliest way for Goff, he has still outpaced his current ADP for four years in a row.
