In six months time, these predictions could either prove right what you hoped your team would be or give you fodder to hold up and say "take that, haters!" to those who didn't believe.
That's right, it's Pac-12 football projections time.
The new-look Pac-12 has launched with eight football members, playing a unique eight-game league schedule with a flex game at the end of the regular season.
Here is a look at how five prominent national outlets project the Pac-12 to finish in 2026:

The Pittsburgh Steelers largely kept their core intact this offseason and are looking to defend their AFC North crown this season with some key additions.
ESPN **** ysts Mike Clay, Seth Walder, and Aaron Schatz ranked all 32 starting lineups across the National Football League. They considered factors like age, talent, and production. The trio of writers ranked Pittsburgh’s starting lineup 19th-best in the league.
The Steelers were ranked one spot below the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one spot above the Indianapolis Colts. Two of their AFC North foes were looked upon more fondly by the trio of sportswriters, as the Baltimore Ravens came in ranked as the fifth-best starting lineup, while the Cincinnati Bengals were a few spots ahead of the Steelers at 15th. The Cleveland Browns, who are loaded with a bevy of draft picks after trading Myles Garrett, came in ranked 31st.
Pittsburgh made major additions this offseason, such as Jamel Dean, Michael Pittman Jr., and Jaquan Brisker. The team also made ten draft selections, giving them a lot of young talent to develop. The ranking of the Steelers seems a bit harsh to me, but I suppose the aging defense and having a soon-to-be 43-year-old quarterback likely held the Steelers back from being higher on the list.

A perfect evening, but only in part, for Jesse Marsch’s Canada. After their 1-1 draw in the opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Canadians thrashed Qatar 6-0 in front of the Vancouver crowd and earned the first World Cup win in their history. A result that sends them to the top of Group B and leaves them needing only a draw against Switzerland in the final matchday to qualify.
Leading the hosts was a rampant Jonathan David. The Juventus striker grabbed a hat-trick, reached 42 goals in 79 appearances for the national team, and moved level at the top of the tournament’s scoring charts. First he took part in the move for Cyle Larin’s 1-0, then he made it 2-0 with a right-footed volley, and in the second half he completed his show with two more goals. It was a historic night for him: he is only the second Juventus player to score a World Cup hat-trick after Paolo Rossi.

Colombia made no mistake in their opener and, led by their star Luis Diaz, who had a goal and an ****** ist, beat Uzbekistan at Mexico City Stadium. With this win, the South Americans moved to the top of Group K, helped by Portugal’s draw with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

For Uzbekistan, regardless of the defeat, it was a historic moment. Fabio Cannavaro’s national team was in fact making its World Cup debut.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing wide receiver Levi Wentz, the team announced.
Wentz spent the 2025 college football season with the Kansas Jayhawks, catching 16 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft and was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. He began his college career at Old Dominion.
Wentz is a Pittsburgh native, having graduated from Pine-Richland.
In coordination with Wentz’ signing, the Steelers released linebacker Daylan Carnell.
