Monroe had one big play after another, in a 64-19 win over McQuaid, the Red Jacket's first home game under the lights since restarting its varsity program 10 years ago.
In addition to the standard passing and rushing scores, the Red Jackets had two punts, one kickoff, one fumble and one interception returned for touchdowns. Ray Garcia was the punt return specialist, D'Markos Trammell Jr. had the two defensive touchdowns, and Gregory Grant brought back the kick.
While Monroe led throughout, McQuaid had its chances. A touchdown pass from Harrison Engle to Chrisaun Jordan trimmed the Knights' deficit to 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. Monroe had the next two touchdowns, however, to build a cushion at halftime.
