Nikola Jokić does not do empty optimism. So when the three-time MVP was asked about the Denver Nuggets' decision to trade Peyton Watson and offered a calm ****** sment of the team's future, it carried more weight than the usual offseason platitudes.
After leading Serbia past Victor Wembanyama and France in a FIBA World Cup qualifier, Jokić addressed the multi-team sign-and-trade that sent Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"I'm happy for Peyton," he said. "He deserved it. We will miss his energy and skill. I don't think about the season yet; we have to play this, but it's gonna be okay."
