AMES — The Jimmy Rogers era began on a positive note as Iowa State football routed Southeast Missouri State, 38-10, in the season-opener at Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5.
The Cyclones jumped to a 14-0 lead and held a 28-7 edge at the half. They never relented from there.
Quarterback Jaylen Raynor completed 8-of-16 passes for 184 yards, two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Aiden Flora added a rushing touchdown. Easton Miller and Vince Benetti each caught touchdown passes. The Cyclones defense tallied six sacks, led by defensive end Isaac Terrell.
The Cyclones hit the road next week for the annual Cy-Hawk game, which will take place at Kinnick Stadium on Sept. 12. Until then, here are some likes and dislikes from the Cyclones' season-opening victory:
