Tony Romo has issued his first public statement following his OWI arrest in Wisconsin this July.
The arrest shocked the football world as Romo was in the area for a golf tournament. He was arrested after failing his field sobriety test and reportedly had an open container in his vehicle. Soon after the news made the rounds, bodycam footage was also released to the public showing the entire episode.
Soon after the story broke, CBS made the stunning decision to suspend Romo indefinitely. But as the network is preparing for its new NFL season and Romo was a major topic of conversation at the company's media day event, we have now finally heard from the former Dallas Cowboys star himself.
In a post on Instagram, Romo shared that he pled no contest to a civil offense and took full responsibility for his actions. He also shared his personal struggles and admitted to struggling with alcohol after trying to get off of pain medication following the injuries sustained during his NFL career. And he states that he is looking forward to eventually returning to his CBS duties.
