Tens of thousands of residents have signed a petition against the development of the Adelaide circuit, of which 40% of the track is slated to be built on 190-year-old National Heritage-listed Adelaide Park Lands. Given the petition, protests, and Ezpeleta's comments that the people of Adelaide should "feel proud to host MotoGP." It's clear that not everyone is on the same page, with residents questioning whether a venue used two or three times a year is worth the impact.
Begin Press Release:
The official Adelaide circuit set to host the Australian Grand Prix from 2027 has been unveiled today by South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, marking a major milestone on the road to bringing the world's first city-centre MotoGP race to life.
The proposed $96m circuit is a result of months of close collaboration between MotoGP, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and partners in Adelaide, designed to deliver world-class racing while meeting the highest modern safety standards.
The immersive unveiling, which projected a 360-degree impression of the plans to those in attendance, was a significant moment on the journey towards Adelaide hosting a new chapter in the sport's history.
